Cheyenne Safety Cartridges Open Liners are for artists who need rich lines. The difference to the well-known liners, which are compressed in the tip area and thus the individual needles in the needle pack converge conically, in the open liners they run parallel up to the tip. As with the round shaders, they only differ in the taper length and the average free soldering length. The taper length describes the length of the cut, i.e. how sharp a needle is. The mean free soldering length is the area between the tip of the needle pack and the solder joint that is free of solder. If this range is short, as with liners, you get a stiffer needle pack. If the range is long, as with shaders, the needle pack is more flexible. The effect that is achieved is comparable to using soft and hard brushes in painting. The open liners have a shorter mean free soldering length than shaders. This makes the liners more controllable and the result is more precise lines.
